History:
Max's is located on 550 E 13th Ave, Eugene, OR across from High Priestess piercing by the UofO campus. It's the "oldest bar in town" according to legend, and possibly the inspiration of The Simpsons' character Moe. I have know it since I remodeled the bathrooms there about 6 years ago. The addition of the outdoor smoking area a couple years back made this place a favorite of ours.

1. Location 9/10
This place is right on thirteenth street connected to the building that is Little's Market. There is parking behind the building and across the street out front. It isn't too far from the downtown hub of bars and is walking distance from the UofO campus. I give it a 9 because it's just slightly too far from downtown. And during the school year is packed with rowdy students.
2. Staff 10/10
The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable. The owner runs a trivia night on Tuesdays with some fun prizes. I won some Miller pilsner glasses the other night with the help of two of the bartenders on my team. Quite often you will find the staff having a drink with the customers out back after their shift. I haven't had any of their mixed drinks yet as they just recently started serving liquor.
3. Atmosphere 10/10
They run a tavern here and they run it well. It is truly a hole in the wall place, but it has a hometown hangout feel to it. The setup inside can get a little cramped when school is in with all the students being so close. I really enjoy the back porch where they have heaters and covered spots to sit. Popcorn is served free with the butter and salt flowing freely, it's good to be young and not have high blood pressure yet, and peanuts on Fridays. They also occasionally have live music which is always loud and always a good time. So if your looking for a great place to grab a beer come here!
4. Food
I'm gonna leave this blank for now as they just started making food, you used to have to order it delivered there, and I'll let you know.
5. Beverage 9/10
As I said earlier they just started serving liquor and I have yet to try any of their drinks. But be sure to order a Blue Porpoise, you'll see. The selection of beers here is excellent with many local beers. For the college frat boy in you they serve massive mugs of PBR, and if your Irish they got you covered with Guinness on tap.
6. Overall Experience 10/10
When I just feel like a drink or maybe just to hangout and talk with friends in a casual setting this place is really nice. I really suggest you go on a trivia night and bring your friends to help out. If you come alone maybe the bar staff will help out! I make this a regular stop almost every Sunday night so maybe I'll see you there!

Jackalope Lounge 9/10
History:
The Jackalope Lounge is located down by the railroad station in Eugene at 453 Willamette st. Eugene, OR 97401. I don't know too much about this place's history but I have been told it was Formerly Lilith's Lair.

1. Location 8/10
In most cities a place down by the railroad station would get you raped or mugged. But in Eugene this location is actually very nice. It is across the street from an upscale dining location called the Red Agave. Another nice dining location is around the corner on the same block called the Eugene Electric Station. But for reasonably priced food come here. I enjoy sitting outside by the train station side with a view of Skinner's Butte. If your lucky the bicycle gang might stop at the train station and start a dance party. I give this place an 8 solely because of the distance from other downtown activities that are open late at night.
2. Staff 10/10
I love the staff here. They are fairly good at remembering your face and even sometimes your drink. The kitchen staff comes out and clears tables frequently and is always friendly. The bartenders seem to be having fun at work which is important to the overall mood of your experience. They also seem quite knowledgeable with their drinks and have mixed some good drinks for me there. They give you a feel that you are welcome there no matter what class you come from.
3. Atmosphere 8/10
I give it a 8 because It's name implies that it is a lounge. But the occasional frat boy appearance and the Guitar Hero contests imply that it is a Pub, although they do claim to be the "service industry hangout". The all wood bar and hanging glasses and the dark lighting give it a homey feel. The music is from a jukebox but the patrons seem to choose good music. The upstairs is for those of you that enjoy a video game, game of pool, or maybe even a game of cricket on the dart boards. Just be careful not to hit patrons on their way to the bathrooms.
4. Food 10/10
I have tried much of the menu here and all my friends and I agree that the food here is pretty damn good for the price. The burgers here are really good, unlike many bars that have cheap pre-formed frozen patties these will be enjoyed by any who try them. My personal favorite is the Reuben sandwich. All my friends tell me the Sliders are really great here but I have never gotten around to trying them yet. Overall ,for bar food, this place gets a 10.
5. Beverage 8/10
The mixed drinks I have gotten here have been pretty good. I haven't ever noticed anything bad about them, but I have never been impressed either. I give them an 8 for the lack of GOOD beers on tap. I mean seriously this is Eugene you gotta have at least a few more local micros than one or two Ninkasis. I usually am stuck with my plan B beers when I go here which are New Castle or Black Butte Porter. I unfortunately have never tried the wine here but I'll edit if I do.
6. Overall Experience 9/10
This is a great place to come pretty much anytime,I have had a few great lunches here as well as dinners, but especially during the warmer months of the year. Their outdoor sidewalk seating area is nice especially after a train trip back from up north. I would recommend this place to anyone for almost any occasion. The inside is cozy downstairs and the upstairs is great for gaming. I also frequent this place so maybe I'll see you there!

Let the Dining begin!
Let me start with a little history of the Dinner Club. A few years ago Bryce, Simon, Ashley, and I started going out together fairly often. We jokingly decided that we would call our little group the dinner club. We would meet around town at different restaurants and pubs to talk and sample the local fare. I decided recently that I would begin rating these establishments for a little fun. At some point the others may join me in their perceptions of the places we attend.
We will rate each place on a scale of 1 to 10 on:
1. Location
2. Staff
3. Atmosphere
4. Food
5. Beverages
6. Overall Experience
I will start out with our favorite places.
